Verse 1
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night!
Verse 2
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ
And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night?
Verse 3
ٱلنَّجْمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ
It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness:
Verse 4
إِن كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ لَّمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌۭ
[for] no human being has ever been left unguarded.
Verse 5
فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ
LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created:
Verse 6
خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٍۢ دَافِقٍۢ
he has been created out of a seminal fluid
Verse 7
يَخْرُجُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ ٱلصُّلْبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ
issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman].
Verse 8
إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٌۭ
Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life]

يَوْمَ تُبْلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ
on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare,
Verse 10
فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٍۢ وَلَا نَاصِرٍۢ
and [man] will have neither strength nor helper!
